The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) describes six levels of a language, from A1 for beginners to C2 for near-native speakers; the DELF and DALF exams follow it for French. Miniglot covers A1 to C1, choosing for each level the words a learner meets most often, each with its pronunciation, its meaning and an example sentence.
5,044 words in all. Times are at 15 new words a day, about ten minutes in the app.

Miniglot shows these words one card at a time, with audio, and brings each back just before you forget it. Then you read stories made only from the words you know.
Miniglot's A1 list has 527 words. At 15 new words a day, that is about 5 weeks.
5,044 words across 5 levels, each word taught at one level only. Learning all of them at 15 a day takes about 11 months.
Spaced repetition: seeing each word again just before you would forget it, at longer and longer intervals, then meeting it in sentences and stories. Miniglot does both: it schedules each word's reviews and writes stories from the words you already know.
Yes. Every list is a free CSV file and a free Anki deck, with the word, its IPA, its meaning, an example sentence and its translation.
